Eva Coleen Turpin, 86, of Greensboro died Sunday, June 27, 2021 at her residence. She was born January 4, 1935 in Byrdstown, Tennessee, to the late George H. and Lydia Magnolia (Pemberton) Lee.

Coleen graduated from Kennard High School in 1953. She had worked for Charles A. Beard School Corp. at Knightstown High School and Kennard Elementary School for 17 years. She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Greensboro for many years. Coleen was an avid reader and enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her family.

She is survived by five sons, Joseph A. (Beth) Turpin, of Greenfield; Jon B. (Linda) Turpin from the City of Cambridge; George Scott (Beth) Turpin of Seymour; Stephen (Liz) Turpin of Etowah, North Carolina; James (Laura) Turpin of Greensboro; two daughters, Debra (Pat) Fausset of Wilkinson and Lee Annette (Danny) Douglas of New Castle; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Nelle Wallace and brother, Hugh (Carol) Lee Middletown; brother-in-law, Kedric Wallace of Spiceland and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arnold R. Turpin; grandson, Andrew Robert Turpin; sisters, Betty Stonerock, Doris Wallace, Bertie Lee; a little brother, Willis Lee; brothers-in-law, Carl Stonerock, Donald Wallace and Lloyd Turpin.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday July 2, 2021 at the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Danny Douglas and Reverend Gene Bennett. Interment to follow at Hicksite Cemetery in Greensboro. Visitations will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 1 and one before the service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family would like a cash donation to one of Coleen’s favorite organizations, the New Castle Henry County Public Library Bookmobile or the Hancock Health Foundation-Women Helping Program.
