Government says it will prioritize multimodal connectivity


During her budget speech, the finance minister announced an expenditure of Rs 20,000 cr for building holistic infrastructure in India under the National Gati Shakti Master Plan, a Rs 100 lakh-crore project.

New Delhi: Presentation of the Union Budget 2022, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government would prioritize the multimodal connectivity between mass urban transport and the rail network. within the framework of “PM Gati Shakti” diet.

According to Nirmala Sitharaman, the Center will primarily facilitate multimodal connectivity between public transport and train stations. She said the design of metro systems including civil structures will be reoriented and standardized for Indian conditions and needs. The minister said the aim of this project would be to improve connectivity and convenience for commuters and promote tourism.

The Minister of Finance said: “Prime Minister Gati Shakti will embrace the seven drivers of multimodal connectivity for states with faster implementation of development projects through technology to facilitate faster movement of people and goods .

“To promote a shift to the use of public transport in urban areas… special mobility zones with a zero fossil fuel policy will be introduced… In view of space constraints in urban areas, a ” battery exchange policy” will be introduced, FM Nirmala Sitharaman said.

It also announced the manufacture of 400 next-generation Vande Bharat trains with improved fuel efficiency and passenger driving experience over the next three years.
