IRCTC takes over Delhi-Lucknow and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express from today


Indian Railway Company Trains run by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) have resumed the services of the two private Tejas Express trains as of today.

The Delhi-Lucknow and Mumbai Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains have resumed operations after being canceled four months ago due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in the second wave. The two Tejas Express services are the first series of trains operated by a legal entity, IRCTC, a subsidiary of Indian Railways.

The two Tejas Express will operate four days a week for now. It will operate on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Train number 82901/82902 Ahmedabad – Mumbai – Ahmedabad and train number 82501/82502 Lucknow – New Delhi – Lucknow will run four days a week – Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Passengers will not be able to get discount tickets on the Tejas Express, however, children under 5 have been waived from the fare and will be booked with their parents. The names of children so reserved will not appear on the card. Children aged 5 and over will be booked at full price and will receive a seat.

IRCTC launches Tejas Express ticket reservation program with SBI cards

Passengers wishing to book tickets on these two Tejas trains can enjoy additional benefits by using the co-branded credit card, the SBI Premium Loyalty Card.

The main benefits presented to IRCTC SBI Premium loyalty card users include a welcome benefit of 500 reward points that book a Tejas train reservation within 45 days of card issuance: the user will get 500 points when the reservation of the first IRCTC Tejas train ticket using the IRCTC SBI Premium card after 05 days of travel / if the ticket is not canceled.

There will be no tatkal quota or premium tatkal quota for the train. There will only be a general quota and a quota of foreign tourists.

The train promises to provide state-of-the-art equipment and is equipped with all modern on-board facilities for passengers traveling on the train. The fare of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express will be dynamic in nature taking into account the bus, taxi, train and air fares in force.
