Members of the central committee of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and party leader Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday demanded an arrest to record their protest against what Akali Dal called a “congressional plot to implicate the party leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a fake drug case “.
Akali leaders marched to the CM’s residence and demanded the arrest.
Speaking on this occasion, the SAD chairman alleged that the chairman of the Punjab Pradesh congressional committee, Navjot Sidhu, “was resorting to extra-constitutional measures by ordering the state government to register a bogus case against Bikram Majithia ”.
“The CM and the Home Secretary not only accepted this request in order to distract from the failures of the Congressional government, but also ordered the DGP to register a bogus case. The SAD is very clear about this. All of these people will be prosecuted once the SAD-BSP alliance government is formed in the state. We will also establish a commission to investigate these bogus cases, including those registered against Akali workers, ”Sukhbir said.
He said: “The SAD would simultaneously continue to fight against repression and acts of vendetta against senior party leaders and workers. “
Announcing that the top party leadership had been arrested by the court, Sukhbir said: drug case. We will also fully expose this conspiracy. “
Meanwhile, before heading to the CM residence, Sukhbir and Bikram Majithia spoke to contract teacher Sohan Singh who climbed to the top of a BSNL tower near the MLA apartments. “They were informed that the contract teacher had climbed the tower to protest the reduction in the salaries of contract teachers in addition to the government’s failure to regularize their services,” said a spokesperson for Akali Dal. Sukhbir condemned the Chief Minister as well as the Minister of Education for giving false assurances to the contractual teachers that were not kept.
